SSE Enterprise Rail shines in Network Rail’s league table of excellence

LONDON UK – 24 April 2018 – SSE Enterprise Rail has come second in a league table used by Network Rail to monitor the delivery performance of its supply chain nationally.

The ‘PRISM’ rating system is seen as a key benchmark of performance for the rail sector; with companies judged on criteria such as: delivery on time, engineering assurance, health and safety, contract administration and behaviour.

SSE Enterprise Rail was given a score of 4.68 out of five over the year; and was only pipped to the post by Story Contracting with its average PRISM score of 4.91 across the 15 periods of monitoring.

Raj Sinha, SSE Enterprise Rail’s Managing Director, said the high approval rating was testament to all the hard work put in by his team.

He said: “My thanks go to everyone in SSE Rail who works so hard to ensure that the quality of work we do is second to none. To score so highly and be given such positive feedback by such a major client as Network Rail proves we are more than on the right track.

“SSE Rail is unique in the sector because we can provide a bespoke service at a local level on all our projects but backed by the vast expertise and resources of the SSE Group. I believe that we have the right level of dedicated resources, national coverage and innovative investment proposals to ensure that we can be major player in the transformation of Britain’s rail network. This rating from Network Rail supports that.”

The PRISM score system was brought in by Network Rail in 2011 so it could better monitor the performance of companies working in its supply chain. Only Network Rail’s principal contractors receive a PRISM score, and they must be working on a contract that is three months or longer and has a value greater than £50,000. Network Rail’s contractors are assessed every four weeks during project update meetings with the client.
